TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
SANCTION # 09-008
On behalf of St. Catharines C.Y.O. Minor Hockey, and the St. Catharines Hurricanes we would like to extend an invitation for your team to participate in this year’s hockey tournament. The event will take place on Friday Feb. 13th, Saturday Feb. 14th, & Sunday Feb. 15th 2009.
Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of 3 games.
Novice, Minor Atom and Atom will be non-contact.
Minor Peewee, Peewee, Minor Bantam, Bantam, Minor Midget & Midget will
be contact.
Each team must have a minimum of 12 skaters plus 1 goalie. Major Novice to
Major Bantam can have a maximum of 15 skaters and 2 goalies. Minor Midget &
Major Midget can have a maximum of 17 skaters and 2 goalies.
Application page must be accompanied by a photocopy of a stamped Alliance / OMHA/ GTHL roster form or it can be emailed in once it is available.
Tournament fees will be $750.00 per team, which includes all gate fees.
All cheques are to be made payable to: John MacDonald Memorial MD Tournament.
All tournament documentation and fees must be in by no later than December 31, 2008. If this is accomplished, the schedules should be completed by Jan. 15th 2009.
There will be a minimum of a $250.00 administration fee for any team that applies, and is accepted and then withdrawals from the tournament after the December 31st, 2008 deadline.
Please complete the attached online registration print it and click on the submit button. Once your application has been received and your hotel has been confirmed you will receive an email back. However we will not hold a spot until your cheque has been received. Please complete the team roster page as we put all rosters into our program booklet.
Approved Team Roster, Travel Permit, Affiliated Players List (AP Player must play in at least 1 round robin game in order to be eligible for the semi & final games) are all required.
If you choose to send your cheque by courier, please ensure that there is not a signature required upon acceptance.
If you do not have your team roster at the time you register online please complete the team roster page and resubmit it when your roster is complete. As this list will be what we use for our tournament program.
Our goal is to provide good competitive hockey within the MD framework. For those who are not familiar with the MD classification it can vary from “BB”, “A” or a roster Select team classification within the OMHA or GTHL.
The MD teams play in an independent loop. The players on these teams do not play on any house league teams as per say a true select team, where they would have players playing in house league.
Our intent is to provide a good competitive balance relative to the teams wishing to partake in the tournament. Each team must gage the ability of their team to compete competitively within this framework.
We will consider accepting teams from any level mentioned above.
And traditionally our select teams have been competitive with a wide range of teams within different categories or levels of play up to and including “A”. Past history of the teams, which have entered our tournament, has shown regardless of their classification, this also to be true of their ability to compete.
Hopefully this brief explanation can provide a clearer picture of what we are looking for or what may be.
We welcome all to apply for our tournament. We welcome those teams back from last year and look forward to meeting those new ones. This will be our 8th year running. And with a little luck & good fortune it will be as successful as the previous seven.
Our tournament headquarters once again this year will be located at the Hannah-Seymour Sportsplex which is our four pad arena.
