TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

On behalf of the St. Catharines C.Y.O. Hurricanes, we would like to invite your team to participate in the 10th annual John MacDonald Memorial MD Tournament.  The event will take place on Friday February 12th through to Sunday February 14th, 2010.  Sanction # 10-028

Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of 3 games.

Novice, Minor Atom and Atom will be non-contact.  Minor Peewee, Peewee, Minor Bantam, Bantam, Minor Midget and Midget will be full contact.

Each team must have a minimum of 12 skates and 1 goalie.  Novice to Major Bantam can have a maximum of 15 skaters and 2 goalies.  Minor Midget and Midget can have a maximum of 17 skaters and 2 goalies.

Application page must be accompanied by a copy of a stamped roster from your governing body (Alliance, OMHA, GTHL) or it can be emailed in once it is available.

We have partnered once again with Niagara Sports and Entertainment in reserving hotel rooms for the weekend of the tournament.  All teams must book through this company, via our website, in order to be accepted into the tournament. Acceptance into the tournament is not complete until a hotel room (if required) has been booked and a confirmation number has been received.  There are absolutely no exceptions and failure to book hotel rooms through this company will result in your removal from the tournament.

Tournament Fees will be $775.00, which includes all gate fees.  All cheques are to be made payable to John MacDonald Memorial MD Tournament.

All tournament fees and documentation must be in no later than December 1st, 2009.  No application is complete until fees are received and cleared.

There will be a minimum $250.00 administration fee for any team that applies, is accepted and then withdrawals from the tournament after the December 1st , 2009 deadline. No exceptions.

Please complete the attached online registration, print it and click on the submit button.  Once your cheque has been received, you will receive an email back.  However, we will not hold a spot until your cheque is received and your hotel has been booked.  Please complete the team roster page as we put all rosters into our program booklet.

Approved team roster, travel permit, Affiliated Players List (AP players must play in at least 1 round robin game in order to be eligible for the semi and final games, please see rules) are all required.

If you choose to send your cheque by courier, please ensure that there is not a signature required upon acceptance.

Our goal is to provide good competitive hockey within the MD framework.  For those who are not familiar with the MD classification, it can vary from “BB”, “AE” or a rostered select classification within the OMHA or GTHL.  The MD teams play in an independent loop within the Alliance.  The players on these teams do not play on any other team. We will consider accepting teams from any of the levels mentioned above.

Our intent is to run a tournament that is fun and exciting and to provide a competitive balance within the divisions for all of the teams that are participating. We welcome all to apply to our tournament.  We welcome all returning teams and we look forward to meeting new ones.  With this being our 10th anniversary, we hope to grow even more and with a little luck and good fortune it will be as successful as it has been in previous years!
